Specialism / Branding Agency

Most rebrands solve a visual problem the business did not have.

A brand's job is commercial: to make the right buyer choose you, faster, at a better price. Everything else is craft in service of that.

Who this page is for

For companies weighing a rebrand and unsure whether the problem is visual or positional.

01

Diagnose the brand problem first

There are only a few real brand problems, and they need different answers. You are invisible to the people who decide. You are visible but indistinguishable. You are distinctive but mistrusted. You are understood but priced as a commodity. You have outgrown the story that got you here.

A new identity addresses the second and occasionally the third. Commissioned for the first, fourth or fifth, it is expensive and will not move anything. We spend the first weeks establishing which one you actually have.

02

Positioning that gives something up

Positioning everyone agrees with instantly is positioning that says nothing. A real position excludes buyers, forfeits certain deals and takes a stance a competitor could argue against.

Naming what the position gives up is usually the hardest conversation in a brand engagement and the one that makes the result credible. A board that has agreed what it is walking away from will defend the position when it is tested.

03

Brands that hold up in product

If your customers spend their relationship inside a product, the brand is expressed mainly in defaults, density, tone in error states and what the product refuses to do, not in a homepage hero.

We develop identity systems in interface conditions: dense tables, form labels at twelve pixels, dark mode, error states that have to be more urgent than the accent colour. If it holds there, it holds anywhere.

Signals

When this work is worth doing

If two or more of these are true, the conversation is probably overdue.

  • Three people give three descriptionsSales, product and leadership are not describing the same company.
  • Deals end in price conversationsThe brand gave nobody a reason to have a different conversation.
  • You look like the categoryPassable, unpersuasive, and worth nothing at equal price.
  • The identity breaks in productIt was designed on marketing surfaces and inherited as an unsolved problem.

How we scope it

Questions we hear before we start

Repositioning changes what you claim and who you claim it to. Rebranding changes how that is expressed. Companies usually ask for the second when they need the first, a new identity expressing an unresolved position gets revised within a year.
