Specialism / Product Design Agency

A product design agency that will argue with your roadmap.

The most valuable thing an outside team can do is notice what has become invisible inside the company. That is only useful if we are willing to say it.

01

What product design means here

It means the decisions before the screens: what the product should model, which problem it should solve next, which requests to refuse, where complexity should live, and what the product deliberately will not do.

Those decisions are usually made implicitly, by whoever is closest to the ticket. Making them explicitly, with evidence, is most of the value of bringing in a product design partner at all.

02

Working with your constraints, not around them

Real products have a data model that cannot change this year, an engineering roadmap that cannot pause, enterprise customers whose workflows cannot break, and a compliance function with opinions. A design proposal that ignores these is a proposal that will not ship.

We ask about constraints in the first week and treat them as design material. On one recent engagement, an inability to change the data model forced the restructure into the composition layer, and produced a better, faster-shipping answer than a migration would have.

03

Evidence that can change a decision

We use analytics for shape, session replay for texture, support tickets for the customer's own language, and task-based sessions to see failure directly. The goal is not a research report; it is evidence specific enough to settle a disagreement.

Research that cannot change the plan is theatre. We scope it to the decisions actually in front of the team.

Signals

When this work is worth doing

If two or more of these are true, the conversation is probably overdue.

  • You are shipping on schedule and adoption is flatA delivery problem has been ruled out. What remains is a problem of what is being built.
  • The backlog is full and the core workflow is unchangedRequests are accumulating around a structure nobody has revisited.
  • New users need training to reach valueTraining is usually compensating for information architecture.
  • Every feature costs more than the lastDesign debt is now taxing delivery, and it compounds.

How we scope it

Three ways this usually runs

Durations are typical rather than fixed. We scope after the first conversation, not before.

  • Product discovery

    4 to 8 weeks

For a product or major feature that has not been built yet. Ends with a validated direction and a scope worth committing to.

    You receive

    • Research findings
    • Problem statements
    • Tested prototype
  • Product redesign

    16 to 24 weeks

Structural redesign of an existing product, from research through to production design and design system.

    You receive

    • Information architecture
    • End-to-end design
    • Component library
  • Hourly engagement

Product Design Agency

Questions we hear before we start

A digital agency is usually organised around campaigns and marketing sites: work with a launch date. A product design agency is organised around software that has users, a roadmap and a lifecycle. The methods, the deliverables and the way success is measured are different.
